Man to be arraigned for attempting to rape his 86-year-old grandmother
A man is set to be arraigned for allegedly attempting to rape his 86-year-old grandmother in Makueni County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the suspect, Stephen Mutua Mutala from Kalongo Sub-Location, was apprehended soon after fleeing the crime scene when the elderly woman raised an alarm.
The DCI explained that at around 1 am, the suspect had crept into his grandmother’s bed, grabbed her by the neck, covered her mouth before attempting to perform the hideous act.
“The granny in her sunset years screamed in despair as she fought off her attacker, with all the strength that she could gather. This alarmed the frustrated suspect, who stormed out of the house,” stated the DCI.
Police say that before fleeing, the perpetrator clobbered his grandmother’s leg with a chair inflicting her with a lot of pain.
A manhunt was immediately launched in search of the suspect who has since been arrested by detectives.
