Man accused of stealing IEBC laptop charged

A man was charged today with stealing a HP Probook 430 GB laptop.

The laptop valued at Sh226,240 belongs to the Independent Electoral and Electoral Commission (IEBC).

According to the proceedings, the offense was committed on Wednesday, a week after the General Election.

The accused who was identified by court documents as  Musa Ogendo Sirangi Musa appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki but was unable to enter a plea claiming to have been physically abused during his arrest by the security personal on duty.

The trial magistrate directed that he be taken to hospital for tests and medication and be produced to the court on Monday to take plea.

The defendant is an employee of DMS Limited.
