Magoha warns parents against changing schools for their children

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has urged parents against prolonging their children’s school enrolment in hopes of having more time to change schools.

He warned parents who are still attempting to change schools for their children, stressing that all schools are equal and that they should stick to the ones chosen by the government.

According to Magoha, the low number of form one students who have already reported to secondary schools in week one of the exercise is to blame for this issue.

“Our body produces hormones, tell the hormones to shut up… and if someone tells you you’re beautiful tell them Jesus is also beautiful and he can go to hell. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

The CS stated that parents should not be afraid to send their children to school because of a lack of school fees, since schools are required to accommodate all form one students regardless of their financial status.

To ensure the success of the 100 per cent transition policy, Magoha stated that the government will have to involve provincial administrators to collect those who have yet to report.

Admissions for Form One are taking place around the country from today till May 10.

According to the government’s 100 per cent transition plan, all pupils who took the KCPE have been assigned to one of the country’s 9,200 public schools.

The Ministry of Education assigned 38,797 students to National schools, 214, 960 to Extra-County schools, 218, 456 to County schools, 2,045 to Special Needs Education, 726, 311 to Sub-County schools, and 9,128 to camps.
