Last key witness in ex-Nairobi governor Kidero testify in court
The last key witness in Sh213 million graft case against former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and former Nairobi County Secretary Lilian Ndegwa among others took to the witness stand today at Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi.
Testifying before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti, Investigating Officer into the matter Omar Mulki, who is the last witness into the case named certified copies of cheques amounting to Sh26million and Sh19million and money transfer documents amounting to Sh20million which have been relied in court.
He produced documents which constitute part of the primary evidence supporting the charges against the suspects.
While testifying in court earlier today, the investigating officer also produced money transfer document and cheques dated between 2014 and 2015.
The investigating officer while being led in evidence by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joseph Riungu told the court that she submitted a Memo document containing a signature former finance officer Nairobi county government Jimmy Mutuku Kiamba to document examiner Steven Yego.
“The question document was send to verify the authors of the documents and signatures marked as MF5 a letter August 26, 2014 addressed to the bank manager and a cheque dated August 26, 2014 ,certified copy of the cheque being amount being Sh19million Included
Certified ” said the investigating officer.
She also told the court that in said documents she produced in court there is a copy of letter addressed to the manager cooperative bank of Kenya dated August 26, 2014.
Kidero and former members of administration are facing charges of conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption leading to the loss of Sh213million.
He is charged alongside Former Nairobi County Secretary Lilian Ndengwa,former finance Officer Jimmy Kiamba among others.
So far 18 witness have testified in the matter.
The case continues for hearing tomorrow.
