LAPFUND official in hot soup over Sh16billion contract after tenderpreneur vow to teach him a lesson
A senior official at the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND) is in hot soup after a he fell out with a tenderpreneur with whom he allegedly schemed to have a preferred company awarded did not materialise.
The inflated housing development project in Bellevue in Nairobi was projected to cost Sh8billion to but the tender price was controversially varied to Sh16billion.
The formerly bosom-buddies now turned committed foes are said to have severed relations and the official whose continued stay at the institution remains shaky fears his contract could be cancelled soon.
Whispers told Grapevine that the situation is so tense that the official has embarked on a lobbying spree to save his job including seeking legal interpretation from the Office of the Attorney General.
The matter is also under investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Eacc).
