Knife wielding Garissa MCA apologises, says it was self-defence
He explained that he had been in a scuffle with some individuals at a car park outside the hotel, prompting him to defend himself

Jarajila Member of the County Assembly in Garissa County Noor Sheikh has apologised for storming a hotel while armed with a knife.
Speaking to the media today in Garissa, the storming at Albeik Hotel in his home county with the welding knife was in self-defence.
The legislator apologised saying he did not intend to harm anyone.
He explained that he had been in a scuffle with some individuals at a car park outside the hotel, prompting him to defend himself.
“They (some individuals at the parking lot) asked me why I had blocked the way, and I told them that I did not do that. In the process, there was a scuffle. I am now apologizing to the customers and the people of Garissa County. I did not have any bad intentions. I was only defending myself,” he said.
The apology comes after a viral video on social media, captured by the CCTVs at the Garissa hotel, showed how he entered a hotel, wielding a knife, a move that prompted those at the hotel to run.
According to Garissa Police Commander Samuel Boit, investigations into the incident are underway, as the authorities seek clarity on the events surrounding the incident.
Boit also dismissed reports circulating on social media that claimed that the MCA had been arrested.
“No arrest has been made, but the investigation is in an advanced stage, and soon we will take necessary action,” the police boss stated.
He called for calmness even as the investigations proceed.
“I want to ask people to be calm and live in unity,” Boit added.
