Kisumu residents beat up activist, dip him into Lake Victoria waters

Drama yesterday ensued at Kisumu’s Lwangni beach after a local activist was beaten up and dipped into Lake Victoria waters by residents over alleged money laundering.

The over 500 residents claimed that Bernard Odinga of Agulu Environment Network had conned them cash of Sh 500 each in 2013 which they paid as registration fee to manually remove the water hyacinth in Lake Victoria.

They complained to have worked for three months by manually removing the weed from the lake waters but Odinga disappeared and failed to pay them.

The drama folded at a time Odinga had gone to launch similar project but this time with the intention of engaging other people at the same place.
