Kin decries Miguna Miguna’s blocked trip to Kenya

Kin of the exiled controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna decry of government frustrations to have their sibling return to his home country.

Yesterday, Miguna’s quest to fly back into Kenya was curtailed after Air France declined to allow him into a Nairobi bound flight.

In a statement Miguna revealed that they French carrier refused to fly him to Kenya on account of orders made by the Kenyan government through red alerts.

“This is to inform Kenyans and the world that Air France officials at the check-in counter at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport have just informed me that the Government of Kenya sent them a “Red Alert” this morning that they cannot fly me to Nairobi, ” the statement read in part.

He, however, indicated that the airline had refused to give me a copy of the “Red Alert” or anything else they can give me proving the directive they were acting on.

Lawyer Miguna had earlier vowed to travel back to Kenya despite the High Court decision declining to lift red alerts blocking his smooth travel.

In a statement on Friday 12th November, he declared that he will not hesitate to travel saying that he already has a valid court order.“I will proceed with my journey as previously communicated and in accordance with Justice Chacha Mwita’s Order of December 14, 2018, and Justice Weldon Korir’s Order of January 6, 2020,” read the statement.

Miguna went further to state that he will not grow faint of fighting for his Kenyan rights saying that even if he is barred from flying into the country he would go back to court.

“If I am blocked again, the matter will return to court. If not, see you soon. Viva!” he exclaimed.

Miguna Miguna was first deported in February 2018 after taking part in the swearing-in of ODM leader Raila as the ‘People’s President’ at Uhuru Park on January 30, 2018. He holds dual citizenship for Kenya and Canada, where he was deported.
