Kayole Starlets earn spot in women’s premiership

The team has lost only once all season and in 21 matches has amassed 47 points with a match to go to close the season

Kayole Starlets have vowed to fight for the Kenya Women Premier League next season when they will be making their debut in the coming 2025/26 season.

The Eastlands based team who were feted at a gala dinner hosted by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Hussein Mohamed and Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda at a Nairobi hotel, expressed confidence in n their ability to succeed in the top tier.

The team has lost only once all season and in 21 matches has amassed 47 points with a match to go to close the season. At their Calvary Grounds, they have not lost a game. The team that was mighty close last season in the National Super League Zone A playoffs now join Madira Assassins in the Premier League next season. Their place in the Premier League next season was confirmed after they won 4-0 against Sunderland Samba at home.

Captain Sarah Chalovu said it was their dream always to earn promotion and vowed to go up and make impact. “This is just perfect after a tough season. Last campaign it was unfortunate for us not to have made it past playoffs. We had to go back to the drawing board and it was all about hard work, belief and togetherness. We want to go to the top league and shine with our aim being to win it,” she said.

Senator Mutinda, on her part, thanked FKF for standing with Starlets and helping women football grow. “It is a good moment for the girls and the team. I am proud of them for a great season. We are also happy that Hussein (FKF Boss) has promised to develop women football. He brought balls and uniforms and some monetary support. This is the way to go,” offered the UDA legislator.

On his part, Mohamed congratulated the Kayole side for their feat while vowing to help illuminate the women’s leagues. “We have seen how women football in the country is growing. As a Federation, we will do our bit to ensure that it is not left behind. I want to thank Kayole Starlets for an exceptional season and wish them well in the Premiership next season.”
