Kalonzo, Moi to lead Azimio’s campaigns in Mombasa
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced a three-day Azimio-One Kenya Alliance campaign in the coast to drum up support for Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
In his Ukambani-Mombasa campaign tour, Musyoka will be accompanied by KANU party chairman Gideon Moi in order to attract coalition supporters ahead of the August 9 elections.
“We are going to do a run on the Mombasa highway beginning from Mlolongo tomorrow at 9.00 am,” Kalonzo said.
The team will campaign from Mlolongo to Makutano Chumbi, a crossroads of Machakos and Mombasa roads.
The team will then travel to Konza City to mobilize voters before heading to communities along Sultan Hamud Road, including Salama, Sultan Hamud, Emali and Makindu.
The group will then travel to the Kiunduani area in Makueni County, which is located between the Makindu and Kibwezi sub counties.
However, the team would not have enough time to carry their efforts to Kibwezi, according to the former vice president.
“Time allows us to even detour to Kibwezi but there is not enough time. We will do Mashinari, Kambu, Mtito Andei and stopover in Voi,” he said.
At Voi, the Azimio-OKA team will be accompanied by Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo and members of the Taita Taveta Coalition.
The coalition members are scheduled to tour Mombasa on Friday.
The coalition leaders and Ukambani governor hopefuls have been asked to join the campaign caravan by the Ukambani kingpin.
“All candidates are welcome to join us, especially those who have Wiper tickets. We’ll be stirring up support for Raila Odinga, our presidential contender,” he said.
The party will on Saturday unveil Mike Mbuvi Sonko as its governor candidate of Mombasa county at the region’s Tononoka grounds.
“We understand there is a lot of excitement about Governor Sonko and his team,” Kalonzo said.
