JP supporters in Mombasa protest demanding reinstatement of Kassim as senate candidate
A section of Jubilee supporters in Mombasa today staged a protest outside Coast Regional Jubilee headquarters in Nyali, demanding the candidature of their senatorial aspirant Abdusalaam Ali Kassim to be reinstated unconditionally.
This follows the alleged cancellation of Kassim’s candidature in favor of Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana who has reportedly been handed the ticket under controversial circumstances.
They chanted slogans and waved twigs, to signal their displeasure against Katana whom they described as an opposition mole being used by pro-Governor Joho brigade as emissary to plot for Jubilee downfall in Mombasa.
The supporters vowed to campaign against the Jubilee party if Kassim “who was elected by the majority of Mombasa residents during the Jubilee senatorial primaries” is blocked from vying in the August 8, General election.
