Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was forced to call off his campaign tour of Kinango area in Kwale county, after police dispersed supporters because the meeting was not licensed.
Police used teargas to disperse Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters who had gathered at Kinango town grounds waiting for Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi to arrive.
The meeting was dispersed as plane carrying the two controversial governors was about to land.
Heavy rainfall also appeared to have conspired to disrupt the meeting as immediately the crowd was dispersed heavy rain hit the area.
