Ruto, Kones rubbish Infotrack survey on Bomet race as Laboso exudes confidence of victory
A Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant from Bomet has dismissed as ‘choreographed’ and meant to satisfy some particular persons an opinion poll by InfoTrack on candidates on race for the Bomet seat.
National water conservation and pipeline corporation chair Julius Kones said the study was not only sham but also doctored to favor particular individuals.
He said the report released by the pollster was off the mark and does not in any way reflect the true picture on the ground.
Laboso on her part welcomed the study and expressed optimism he would clinch the ticket noting it was now evident the battle will be between Jubilee and NASA.
“Here in Bomet we are fully in Jubilee and not CCM, our people will vote Jubilee a 100 percent and that is a fact…people cannot afford to be out of the ruling administration.”
Kones who will battle it out with National assembly deputy speaker Joyce Laboso for the Jubilee ticket in the primaries set for Friday next week questioned why the researcher selected Bomet and Meru only among 46 other counties in the country.
He also pointed out that it was foolhardy for the group to omit other candidates in the race and those aspiring for various seats “If at all it had decided to give Kenyans the picture of the whole county”.
While quizzical over the credibility of the results, the former Konoin MP said the researcher failed to tell Kenyans the key techniques it employed into arriving at the results.
“We need to know such things as to how many people were interviewed and if at all they did it then how did they sample it because one cannot just wake up and produce some upshots and induce us into believing it,” he said.
He, however, urged his supporters to remain steadfast and not to be shaken by the result saying he was focused and ready to square it out with Laboso and other candidates for the ticket next week:
The chair at the same time called for enactment of legislations to check the operations of some research groups in the country noting some are being financed by some quarters to give skewed survey hat favor some particular politicians.
Bomet governor Isaac Rutto who was ranked as most popular candidate and likely to be reelected, in the report, has also come out express his displeasure at the findings noting, “This is part of a wider scheme by the Jubilee to rig the next general election in the county in favor of their candidate.”
He claimed Bomet was fully a CCM zone hence wondered where Laboso got such following from to come close to him.
In the poll, Rutto gained 38.9 percent followed closely by Laboso with 37.7 percent whereas Kones got 7.3 percent.
