Karua; Raila government will tackle insecurity, revive industries and fight graft
Azimio la Umoja’s running mate Martha Karua has taken campaigns to Laikipia county to drum up support for Raila Odinga.
Karua, who was accompanied by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, stressed the necessity of being unified ahead of the August 9 elections to the electorate.
On their route to Nanyuki Town, the duo planned to hold public rallies in Nairobi and make several other campaign stops along the way.
“Today, my brother Peter Munya and I set out to spread the Azimio la Umoja message in Laikipia County. Uniting Kenya is our utmost priority. The politics of today must be one of peace as we campaign, peace as we vote and peace even after the elections. Do not let yourselves become vessels of disunity,” Karua said in a tweet.
She said Raila’s government will tackle insecurity, revive industries and fight corruption.
Karua has positioned herself and Raila as reformists, claiming that the differences between Azimio and their Kenya Kwanza opponents can be seen in their voting histories.
The leader of Narc Kenya is certain that her series of campaigns in the Mt Kenya region are paying off.
She started campaigning for votes in her Central Kenya backyard the day after Raila’s deputy was announced on May 16.
The former Justice Minister began his political campaigning in Meru County and has held over 30 political rallies in Mount Kenya to date.
Karua visited Embu, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Narok counties last weekend, accompanied by Raila.
The Coalition has partitioned into sixteen regional teams led by Cabinet Secretaries, Governors and Members of Parliament who will drive Raila’s presidential campaign across the country.
Raila and Karua lead the presidential team of eleven surrogates drawn primarily from ODM and Jubilee, including MPs Junet Mohammed, Mishi Mboko, Opiyo Wandayi, Maina Kamanda, Kanini Kega, Richard Onyonka, Caleb Amisi and Babu Owino as well as former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth, Nyeri deputy governor Carol Karugu and unsuccessful Kisumu Senate aspirant Phillip Pande.
