Two touts filmed dangerously hanging on a matatu’s door arrested
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has urged all road users to remain vigilant and speak out against dangerous behaviour on Kenyan roads.
This is after announcing the arrest of two touts performing acrobatics and movie-like stunts in and on a matatu that was moving at high speed along Nairobi’s Jogoo Road.
“We thank the public for promptly volunteering information that led to the identification of the vehicle, the crew, and the Sacco under which the vehicle operates,” read part of the statement.
“Further engagements are ongoing to propose more deterrence action against the operator. While we commend established Saccos that have continued to enhance decorum and order in their fleet; earning a good reputation and respect from the public as a result, other PSV Saccos,” it added.
The police say they are working close with the national transport and safety authority across the county to ensure compliance to traffic rules and regulations is enforced, while promising to take stern action on the suspects.
In the video making rounds on social media one of the touts is seen dangerously putting his feet doing a walking stunt on another bus that was also on the move and the other one hanging upside down on the door of the matatu.
Kenyans took to social media to condemn the touts’ behaviour.
