Graft suspect Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki has been ranked the overall best governor in the country.

According to a survey released by Mizani Africa ranked Njuki as the best with 79.7 per cent followed closely by Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru who garnered 79.4 per cent.

Mizani Chief Executive Officer Harun Kiratha said the poll took place between May and December last year and mainly focused on education, security, environment and sports.

“We know there are those who will agree with our findings with others expected to disagree. But the reality is that our findings are factual as we recorded what we found on the ground. We never took any keen interest in political affiliations which some of these leaders belong to,’ said Kiratha.

Nandi governor Stephen Sanga was ranked third with 79 per cent, followed by his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho who scored 78.9 percent.

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o closed the list of the top five with 78.5 per cent.

Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and his Taita-taveta counterpart Granton Samboja emerged sixth and seventh respectively.

Among members of parliament, Thika Town Mp Pattrick Wainaina and his Westlands counterpart Tim Wanyonyi topped the list with a tie of 65.9 percent.

They were closely followed by Uriri Mp Mark Ogolla with 65.5 percent, while Kiharu Mp Ndindi Nyoro and his Mvita counterpart Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir tied at number three with 65.1 percent.

Kabete Mp James Kamau was fourth with 64.8 while Embakasi East mp Babu Owino and South Imenti Mp Murungi Kathuri closed the list of the five best MPs in Kenya.

The poll also found Mandera East Mp Hassan Omar as the best Mp in North Eastern.

Omar who was sixth nationally said he has managed to improve the welfare of his constituents especially through National Health Insurance Fund.

At the same time, Nyeri county assembly Speaker John Kaguchia was ranked the best with a score of 69.7 percent followed by Baringo County assembly speaker David Kiplagat with 69.6 percent. Embu County Assembly speaker Josiah Muriithi was third with 69.5 percent.

Kwale County Assembly speaker Sammy Nyamawi and Kiambu County Assembly speaker Stephen Ndichu were fourth and fifth with 69.3 percent and 68.7 percent respectively.

For MCAs, Biashara Ward (Kiambu) topped the list with 89.9 percent followed by Kinoo Ward MCA Sammuel Kimani (89.8 percent), Khalaba Ward MCA Majimbo Okumu (89.6 percent), Ichagaki Ward MCA Charles Mwangi (89.6 percent) and Muvuti/Kiima Kimwe Ward MCA Caleb Mule (89 percent).

“We must acknowledge when something good is done. Kinoo MCA is one of the leaders we found to be extremely hard-working. He fought for the recognition of shona people who have been stateless,’ said kiratha.
