Governor Tunai dispatches medical supplies worth Sh40M to county health centres

Narok County Governor, Samuel Kuntai Ole Tunai has today dispatched latest batch of medical supplies worth Sh40 million to county health centres.
It has been nine progressive years since the beginning of Devolved Governance, and in these 9 years, Tunai’s administration has continued to achieve the constitutional aspiration of providing the highest attainable standard of healthcare services for the people of Narok County.
“Over this period, the County Government has employed over 384 health professionals offering the much needed medical services to residents across the County’s 116 health facilities,” he said.
Tunai flagged-off essential medicines and non-pharmaceutical supplies valued at Ksh. 40 Million.
“This is in realization to provision of high quality healthcare services across the 30 Wards and in betterment of the County Health Center,” he said.
According to him, there are notable ongoing Health infrastructural projects which  include; Narok County Referral Hospital; Outpatient ablution/toilet block is complete, new 450 bed hospital wing is 44 per cent complete, Medical Training College to admit 250 students is 35 per cent complete, modern mortuary 50 bed capacity is 10per cent complete and removal of asbestos is 87 per cent complete.
“The remodelling of the casualty is 99 per cent complete, Ololulunga Sub County Hospital Isolation Centre is 95 per cent complete which includes 3 inpatient blocks/wards of 100 beds each, kitchen, laundry, incinerator, mortuary and stone masonry fencing and Nairregie Enkare Health Centre is 60 per cent complete,” he stated.
The Nairregie Enkare Health Centre includes a surgical theatre, an x-ray unit and two inpatient wards.
He added that Emurua Dikirr Health Centre is 90 per cent complete which has a maternity wing, 2 wards, surgical theatre, x-ray unit, kitchen and laundry.
Lolgorian Sub County Hospital is 95 per cent complete. It has a maternity wing, x-ray, 2 wards, kitchen, laundry and mortuary, lkiragarien Dispensary is complete with 2 wards, an outpatient block, kitchen and laundry and the Ntulele Dispensary and Maternity block are 90 per cent complete.
With regards to Covid-19 preparedness the County Government has built new isolation facilities and procured equipment for them.
Tunai said that his administration is firmly racing towards making the highest attainable standards of healthcare a reality for the residents of Narok County.
The County Government distributes similar consignments of medical supplies every quarter as received from its contracted supplier, Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS).
