An elderly man was Killed and property worth thousands of shillings destroyed following heavy rains at Utheri Wa Lari area in Mai Mahiu.
Several feeder roads were also washed cutting off communication from the Agricultural rich village and Mai Mahiu town.
The deceased according to a resident Peter Wanjohi was heading home when he met hiss untimely demise.
Wanjohi said the five hour downpour rendered roads impassable while it took close to two hours to find the body.
“Food crops that were ready to be harvested were also swept away by the floods leaving residents in losses”.
“We urge the government at the county and national level to help us rehabilitate these roads so as we can open the village to other towns.
Confirming the incident, Mai mahiu OCS Ezra Sambu said police with the help of locals searched for the body and found it a few meters from where he was reported to have drowned.
Sambu said the body had been picked and taken to the Naivasha County Referal hospital mortuary adding that the rains left a trail of destruction in the area.
