Former Senator in Jomo Kenyatta’s government laid to rest
Hundreds of mourners flocked the home of former Baringo Senator William Rotich who served during the late Jomo Kenyatta government as he was laid to rest yesterday at his Benonin farm, Eldama Ravine constituency.
The deceased being the only post-colonial Senator in Kenya who survived to see the 21st century succumbed to Colorectal cancer while undergoing treatment at Medieheal hospital in Eldoret Wednesday last week.
Children of the late Senator said their father was a good mentor and a God fearing person who shaped their lives making them successful Kenyans.
Among those who spoke during his burial ceremony were Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, immediate former Baringo governor Benjamin Cheboi and former Permanent Secretary Ambassador Benjamin Kipkulei.
Senator Moi and the former Baringo governor eulogized the late Rotich as an astute politician who never entertained corruption is worth to be emulated with Cheboi recognizing him as his political advisor.
As written in his eight- page eulogy, the deceased born in 1926 and blessed with nine children was a clinician who was assigned by government to treat injured freedom fighters including the late Dedan Kimathi and detained freedom fighters including the late Mbiyu Koinange, Pro Gama Pinto and Chege Kibachia.
