Former Nairobi Water clerk charged with forgery of degree certificate
A former registry clerk of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company has been released on a Sh80,000 cash bail or a surety of Sh1million bond after she was charged with forgery of academic documents before the Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court.
Liza Amara Anyoso was charged with three accounts including; forgery, contrary to Section 345 as read with Section 349 of the Penal Code; uttering a false document, contrary to Section 353 of the Penal Code; and deceiving a principal, contrary to Section 41(2) as read with Section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, No. 3 of 2003.
Investigations by EACC have revealed that Anyoso used a falsified Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate purporting to be a genuine document from the University of Nairobi to obtain employment at NCWSC.
Consequently, she unlawfully earned salaries amounting to Sh7.8 million.
It is after the completion of their investigations that the Director of Public Prosecution approved their recommended charged leading to her arrest.
“Former NCWSC registry Liza Amara has been released on a cash bail of Sh80,000 or an alternative bond of Sh1 million with one surety of a similar amount after she was charged Forgery, contrary to Section 345 as read with Section 349 of the Penal Code,” EACC confirmed in a statement.
The anti-graft authority confirmed that the former registry clerk was arrested by its sleuths before being processed at the Integrity Centre Police Station and later presented at the anti-corruption court in Milimani.
Appearing before Senior Principal Charles Ondieki, Liza pleaded not guilty.
“The suspect was processed at the Integrity Centre Police Station and subsequently arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Ondieki, at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges,” EACC added.
Her arraignment came hours after a Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company staff was also yesterday freed on a Sh100,000 cash bail with a Sh1 million bond alternative after he was arraigned at the anti-corruption court over alledged forgery to secure employment as the County Parastatal.
Michael Kilonzo Mualuko is accused of forging his KCSE certificate to secure employment at NCWSC.
Kilonzo was arraigned at the court today after he was arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following completion of their investigations.
The anticorruption commission received a complaint in October 2023, alleging that Mualuko had presented a forged KCSE certificate purportedly issued by Bishop Ndingi High School.
