Foreign national killed by President Ruto’s motorcade along Ngong Road  

Witnesses claim the deceased was knocked down while attempting to cross the busy spot around Valley Arcade when he was knocked down by the president’s motorcade, which was coming from Lang’ata headed to Kibera for his development tour around the city.

A foreign national whose identity is yet to be determined has been killed by a vehicle suspected to have been in President William Ruto’s motorcade along Ngong Road.

The middle-aged pedestrian was killed on the spot by the speeding vehicle.

Witnesses claim the deceased was knocked down while attempting to cross the busy spot around Valley Arcade when he was knocked down by the president’s motorcade, which was coming from Lang’ata headed to Kibera as he continued his development tour around the city.

The tragedy attracted passersby who wanted to save the young man, only to discover that he was dead.

Police officers arrived minutes later, cordoning the area before the body was picked up and taken to the Nairobi Funeral Home.

Confirming the incident, National Police Service Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga stated that the foreigner whose nationality the police are yet to confirm was knocked by a government vehicle, adding investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“Police have begun investigations into the accident involving a foreign national that occurred at Adam Arcade along Ngong Road. The pedestrian was knocked by a government vehicle, and the National Police Service are now handling the matter,” Muchiri said in a statement.

Muchiri urged Kenyans who witnessed the accident to help the investigating authorities with more details by reporting to the nearest police station or calling the police landline emergency number 911.

“We encourage anyone with information that may assist with the investigations to report to the nearest police station or through our toll-free number 999, 911,112 or #FichuakwaDCI o800 722 203,” he said.

Further, he called on all the motorists and pedestrians to be keen and exercise caution while they adhere to the traffic rules to avoid accidents.

“NPS urges motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution and adhere to the traffic rules and avoid accidents,” he warned.
