‘Food For Fees’ program launched in Isiolo county

The National government has partnered with the European Union and Isiolo County government to initiate a Sh5 million programme dubbed ‘’Food For Fees’’ to help in mitigating drought in the county.

The money will be used to buy food for 22 public secondary schools within the county, with the principals and boards of management required to convert the food into monetary value and subsequently off-set school fees for needy students.

Speaking in Isiolo today after presiding over the programme launch, Isiolo County governor Godana Doyo lauded the European Union and other partners who agreed to support schools during this dry season.

The County boss said that there was need to lay more emphasis on such initiatives as the drought is expected to persist for next few months.
