Fallen Kenyan officer in Haiti identified as 41-years-old Nzuve, remains to be repatriated

His remains were flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation and onward repatriation to Kenya

The Kenyan police officer who died in a road accident in Haiti on Sunday, August 31, 2025 has been identified as Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, aged 41.

His remains were flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation and onward repatriation to Kenya.

The revelations were made by the Multinational Security Support Mission Spokesperson Jack Mbaka, who also announced that officers held a requiem mass for the fallen corporal, identified as Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, before the remains were flown to the Dominican awaiting repatriation.

“The MSS family, including personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, alongside staff from DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld gathered at the main dining facility (Defac) at LSA1 to honor his memory in a solemn service before his remains were flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation and onward repatriation to Kenya,” the statement by MSS read in part.

Mbaka extended his condolences to the bereaved family as he wished a quick recovery to the officers who were injured in the crash.

“The MSS extends its heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, including the Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd’H), the Haitian National Police (PNH), residents, and MSS Officers, whose swift actions helped evacuate the injured.  From all of us at MSS-Haiti, our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured, who are thankfully out of danger,” it added.

Nzuve died in a road crash along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9 around 5:00pm during a recovery operation.

Nzuve was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.

A Haitian civilian also died in the crash where eight officers were severely injured with three being critical though Mbaka has revealed that they have improved.

Corporal Nzuve was a proud member of Kenya’s 3rd contingent to the MSS, where he consistently demonstrated courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment until his untimely passing.

Born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, he joined the National Police Service in 2005 and later served with the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).

Over the years, he served with distinction in various parts of Kenya, including Narok and Baringo counties, before taking up his final mission in Haiti.
