DCI’s homicides detectives identify prime suspect linked to trio murders of Eastleigh women
Homicide detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have identified the prime suspect linked to the trio gruesome massacre of three women, a mother, her daughter and her niece from Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.
In a statement today, October 27, 2024, the DCI disclosed that the suspect identified as Hashim Dagane Muhumed was captured on CCTV cameras driving a vehicle that picked up the victims from their Eastleigh home hours before the brutal incident.
“Investigations conducted so far have established that Hashim Dagane, 24, was driving the Nissan Note (registration number KDQ 718Y) car captured on cctv cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered scattered at various locations.” DCI said.
The directorate added that the vehicle was abandoned at Wakulima Market near ENA Coach stage and towed to DCI Headquarters for forensic examination, which further linked Dagane to the killings.
DCI is now urging members of the public who may have information that could aid in the arrest of the suspect to report to the nearest police station.
“With one suspect in custody and assisting in the investigation, we appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist in the arrest of Hashim Dagane Muhumed to #FichuakwaDCI by calling our toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or report at any police station.” DCI added.
The deceased have been identified as Waris Daud (39), her daughter Amina Abdirashid (22) and her niece Nuseiba Dahir (13).
On Friday, October 25, 2024, autopsies were conducted on the bodies of the three.
Chief Government pathologist DR. Johansen Oduor, who oversaw the exercise, stated that the trio was tortured before their deaths.
He, however, noted that their murders were executed differently.
The 13-year-old was suffocated, the 22-year-old was stabbed, and the 39-year-old met her death after her throat was slit.
The pathologist further revealed that Nuseiba, the youngest of the victims, might have been sexually assaulted before the murder.
