Malombe tells Musila to prepare for humiliating defeat in Kitui governor race
Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has told senator David Musila to prepare humiliating defeat in the Wiper party nominations slated for April 24 as the voters have made a resolve to reward him with another term.
”The Senator will definitely lose in the first round and the only remaining option is to either retire from active politics or shop for another party before the primaries”, he told gatherings in various stops during an inspection tour of projects in Mwingi Central constituency.
Malombe said he is not scared by decision by county legislators to back the senator for governorship asserting that what matters is what his administration has done for the county residents.
The governor boosted of good development strategy during the four years devolution has been in existence adding that during the period he has initiated and implemented over 5000 projects majority being life changing projects in water and agriculture sectors.
”What my government has done is what those campaigning to unseat me has not done for many years they have been in leadership one of them in cabinet positions’,’ averred Malombe.
The Governor is fighting strong battle for the gubernatorial seat from senator Musila who is Wiper party chairman and fiery politician and former Lands cabinet secretary Charity Ngilu.
Malombe repeated that he will only accept fair, free and credible nominations adding that attempts to manipulate the exercise in favor of somebody will be thwarted by all means.
” I have always said that nominations are crucial and tricky in any election process and those charged with the responsibility of overseeing them must uphold transparency to ensure free and fair nominations”, said Malombe.
He however said regardless of the outcome of the nominations, he has to defend his seat.” Don’t be cheated that Malombe will just go like that as my name must be in the ballot papers’,’ he said.
