Dramatic scenes and chaos have been witnessed at the Shamata Showground in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua county after teargas canisters were lobed at the VIP dias where the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua sat throwing the thanksgiving prayer service into disarray.

On his part, Gachagua has condemned the actions as unfortunate and inconsequential.

The teargas was thrown at the VIP dias when Nyandarua Senator John Methu was addressing the crowd.

Speaking after the situation calmed down, Gachagua said that it was unfortunate that police officers who are supposed to be providing security resought in disrupting peaceful meeting.

He has added that the Mt. Kenya region will not succumb to intimidations from the government to silence them from speaking about the ills of the government.

On the region’s stand in demonstrating their discontent to the government, the former DP has said that the region will not shy away from criticizing the government as many of the promises the president made to the region none of them has been fulfilled.

Gachagua has added that the country cannot be managed through intimidations and harassment maintaining his stand on calling out the government to respect the decisions of Kenyans.
