Police are hunting down for nine more suspects believed to have been part of the twenty plotters of the Sh72million heist.
Three of them are police officers, one G4S staff and sixteen others.
By yesterday evening, eleven suspects were in police custody and those arrested in Kisii and Kisumu ferried to Nairobi.
“We have transported them to Nairobi to appear in court on Monday. The investigation will lead us to unearth more.” One of the investigators intimated.
However, investigators have widened the scope of the probe to establish the role of what a senior detective termed as “possible silent plotters” within G4S and the Standard Chartered Bank.
Phone exploitation and triangulation of profiled phone numbers placed before and after the heist at Standard Chartered Bank Automated Teller Machine at Nairobi West Shopping Center last Thursday enabled Special Crime Prevention Unit and their Flying Squad counterparts to locate the scene at Thogoto Forest where the loot was shared.
At the scene where the movie-like heist plotters converged before switching off their phones and disappeared, thirteen empty cash boxes belonging to Standard Chartered, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Stanbic Bank and Barclays Bank were recovered.
The getaway van used by the officers was traced to a garage in Kikuyu being repainted.
A mobile phone, Itel make, a sim card serial number 89254021104175661927 and a black G4S jacket were also found abandoned at the scene.
The incident occurred at 6.05am as cash-in-transit vehicle sandwiched in two escort vehicles, a lead vehicle and a chase car loading the cash.
They had picked the colossal amount of cash in various denominations from the G4S warehouse at G4S headquarters along Witu Road in Industrial Area.
G4S security manager Bernard Apidi is among those questioned.
Police Constable Chris Machogu was arrested in Kisii while his accomplice Police Constable Wycliffe Owuor in Seko village in Kendu Bay.
