DCI nabs two suspects over kidnapping, torture of Kamukunji businesswoman

Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the main suspects behind the kidnapping of Kamukunji-based businesswoman.

24-year-old Jackson Njogu and 21-year-old Hafsa Abdi were nabbed for kidnapping and torturing Hafsa Mohamed Lukman at Crystal view lodge in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.

“The two lovers are believed to be the masterminds behind the kidnapping of Hafsa from her shop and managed to siphon a total of Sh650,000 from the victim’s bank accounts while she was in captivity,” stated DCI.

According to DCI, they then reportedly escaped to Kinangop and purchased a bar which they were operating.

Lastweek, detectives rescued the Kamukunji based businesswoman who was kidnapped on June 15.

She was discovered inside a water tank at a dingy room in Matopeni area, within Kayole.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Sh5 million, in exchange for her freedom.

Hafsa who appeared tortured, begged her family to meet the demands of her tormentors, for her life to be spared however, police and family said no ransom was paid.

DCI issued a stern warning to any persons harbouring the intention of committing such a heinous crime, that no efforts shall be spared in their pursuit.
