Were was killed by a lone gunman on Wednesday night while being ferried in his saloon car around 7pm just at the City Mortuary roundabout. At the time of the incident, he was in the company of a bodyguard and driver.
He had just left the National Assembly and was headed home when his assailants who were on a motorbike ambushed him. He was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where he succumbed.
