Court issue warrant of arrest against Lamu Senator Loitiptip

A Nanyuki court has ordered the arrest of Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip after he snubbed a court session.
This was after he failed to show up for a session involving a case where he allegedly shot a woman in a hotel in Nanyuki.
Principal Magistrate Ben Mararo said Anwar should be arrested if he is not admitted in hospital as alleged or present himself to the police for failing to show up in today’s session.
However, according to his lawyer, Rose Wachira, the Senator was admitted to a hospital in Nairobi.
Mararo charged the Senator with two counts; causing grievous harm and unlawful use of firearms.
The case yesterday took a new twist after Joy Makena, the woman allegedly shot by the Senator claimed she was coerced to agree to an out-of-court settlement.
Makena stated that the Senator forced her to agree to a settlement of Sh70,000, or else her two friends who accompanied her “would be jailed”.
According to Makena, the Lamu Senator shot her in the leg after getting into a confrontation with the lady who was in the company of her husband Turo Jaso.
“He then fled the scene leaving behind his bodyguard and other supporters to attend to me,” she said.
