Here is a list of leaders who joined the June 25 protests in Nairobi

Several Politicians have today joined Gen Z Protesters across the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) to mark the first anniversary of those killed in the 2024 anti-finance bill and anti-government protests.

Former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, together with his DAP-K party counterpart Eugene Wamalwa, led a section of opposition leaders to lay wreaths along Parliament Road.

Before laying wreaths, the leaders began by holding prayers at the Holy Family Basilica before walking to Parliament Road.

They were, however, not allowed to go past the police barricade along the Parliament Road.

The opposition leaders laid the flowers at the razor-sharp barbed wire barricade before going back.

Activist and Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah also joined the Gen Zs in Nairobi at the General Post Office (GPO) along Kenyatta Avenue before directing them to march to Parliament Road, where they paid tribute to the 2024 fallen heroes and laid wreaths.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga joined the protestors along Kimathi Street in Nairobi CBD. The former CJ was in the company of former MP Augustine Neto and his security detail.

However, the anti-riot officers lobbed teargas at the emeritus CJ, forcing him to take refuge at the Nation Centre.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, on the other hand, joined demonstrators along Moi Avenue.

The ODM legislator was carried by the protestors.

Besides Nairobi CBD, the protests were witnessed in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisii, Kajiado, Makueni, and Nyeri counties, where Kenyans returned to the streets in large numbers for the June 25 protests.
