We will work with NGAOs to fight illicit brew, Tharaka Nithi gover Njuki affirm
Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki has reiterated his administration’s resolve to fight drug and substance abuse in the county saying he will work with the National Government Administration Officers (NGAOS) to stump out the menace.
Speaking yesterday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Kairuni Stadium in Maara sub county, governor Njuki lauded the joint efforts between the two levels of government in combating illicit brews, insisting there would be more work to bring the numbers down.
So far, the joint efforts have led to the arrest and prosecution of one of the largest brewer in the county.
Echoing his words, Tharaka Nithi county commissioner Wesley Koech said he was proud of the work done this far, urging for more concerted efforts.
And on matters health, governor Njuki, who is also the chairperson of the Council of Governors Health Committee applauded efforts of medics, not just in the county, but across the country, noting the rollout of the Universal Health Coverage will be a game changer.
