Nanny jailed five years for feeding baby nasal mucus and dirt from private parts
A twenty-year-old house help was sentenced to five years in prison for feeding a five-month-old baby nasal mucus and dirt from her private parts.
The nanny, Catherine Mukoya was found guilty of inserting her fingers in her private parts and putting them in the baby’s mouth at her employer’s home in Fedha Estate, Embakasi.
She was arrested on July 28, 2022 and detained at Embakasi Police Station before being arraigned in court on August 8.
Children’s Court Magistrate Festus Terer condemned the behavior and stated that she deserved the custodial sentence.
“The accused herein is guilty of child abuse contrary to section 22 1 (a) of the Children’s Act,” Terer ruled.
Mukoya however pleaded the court for mercy stating that she had a three-year child who solely depended on her.
She was given 14 days to appeal the sentence.
