Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS nominee Mutua say he is worth Sh420million
Foreign and Diaspora Relations Cabinet Secretary nominee Alfred Mutua rated his net worth at Shs420 million when he appeared before the parliamentary vetting committee.
The immediate former Machakos County two-five-year term governor said he was worth Sh200million before being elected as governor in 2013.
“My net worth is currently estimated to be Sh420 million. Hotels and flats are currently the main sources of income.” Mutua said.
The former county boss was questioned by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed to explain how he was wealthy Sh420 million yet owned the A&L Hotel in Machakos which was at the center of controversy between him and his estranged ex-wife Lilian Ng’ang’a who is now married to musician Julius Owino popularly known as Juliani.
Mutua said that because he built the hotel with a bank loan that he is currently repaying, his significant stake in it was not adequately realised.
