Nurses threaten to go on strike to protest governors’ plan to hire them on contracts

Kenya National Union of Nurses has threatened to call strike to protest plan by Council of Governors to hire its members on contract basis.

The health workers, through their secretary general Seth Panyako, have promised to paralyse operations in all health facilities countrywide if the governors fail to shelve the plan.

“From the start, we were opposed to the move to devolve health and this is now evident with some governors planning to oppress health workers and we shall not allow this,” Panyako said.
