Deputy President William Ruto has celebrated former President Mwai Kibaki as the country’s greatest president.
Speaking at Nyayo Stadium during Kibaki’s State funeral service, Ruto said Kibaki was a renowned public servant both in the opposition and government.
“I also can see his shadow and influence in what is going to become of the 5th President of Kenya. We might need a separate book for Mwai Kibaki because of what he has done for our country,” the DP stated.
He praised Kibaki for laying a solid basis in education and infrastructure development and for being a draftsman of the Kenyan economy.
“When the history of Kenya is written, Kibaki will not fit in paragraphs, he cannot fit in chapters. We need more than what he has done for our country,” Ruto said.
Kenya’s significant infrastructural development, which has been pursued by the Jubilee administration since 2013, was the vision of the late president, according to the DP.
The DP expressed his confidence that the fifth president shares the same goal as Kibaki and will work to continue Kibaki’s legacy of infrastructure and economic development.
Kibaki will be buried on Saturday, April 30, at his Othaya home in Nyeri County.
The third President will be accorded full military honours and protocols, including full Military Musical honours and a 19 gun-salute.
