Matiang’i banns anti-IEBC protests in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu CBDs

Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has today banned anti-IEBC demonstrations in central business districts of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu cities.

Quoting Public Order Act, Matiangi said the ban was aimed at protecting Kenyans and their property.

The CS further said organizers of protests will be held personally liable if looting and destruction of property occurs.

He also confirmed that NASA CEO Norman Magaya will face looting and destruction of property charges for organizing protests once investigations are complete.

The CS, however, assured Kenyans that the country is safe and they should go on with their daily duties without fear.
