KCPE 2021 results to be released next week
The 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates will receive their results next week.
Speaking in Kayole yesterday, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha indicated that marking of the exams which were concluded last week was almost complete.
“So we are still working sometime next week, anytime between Wednesday and Saturday depending on the President’s availability, we should be able to tell our children how they have performed and this is good so that their parents can start planning for them,” he stated.
1.2 million candidates took the national exams over a three-day period in 28,248 exam centres across the country, supervised by 242,406 teachers assigned by the Teachers Service Commission.
The class of 2021 is expected to enter Form One in May.
The 2021 KCPE exams were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Magoha dismissed claims of leakage, saying the only threat is early exposure of the papers.
He said early exposure of exams will be curbed through the multi-agency approach that has seen three state agencies come together.
The agencies include CS Fred Matiang’I’s Interior Affairs, Magoha’s Education and CS Joe Mucheru’s ICT.
This year’s national examinations are taken through five layers of security before reaching the students.
“To imply that the exam has been leaked means that the exam has been reached before the examination is released from the container and we all know that is not true,” Magoha said.
The CS said this threat caused a reduction of time in which school heads possess the papers before giving the candidates.
