President William Ruto has waived the hospital bill incurred by deceased veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

The move was received with much appreciation by Kasavuli’s family and colleagues including Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist John Jacob Kioria.

“Great thanks to our President who has waived the hospital bill incurred by my colleague Catherine Kasavuli. May her soul continue to rest in peace,” Kioria stated.

Kasavuli’s son Martin Kasavuli also expressed gratitude to the Head of State and other well-wishers who stood with the family since his mother’s illness.

President Ruto and other politicians were among well-wishers who made contributions as soon as Kasavuli’s medical bill accrued.

She succumbed to cancer at the age of 60 at KNH where she was receiving treatment.

She graced the screens of different media stations including the Voice of Kenya (now KBC), KTN, and Citizen TV.

Her burial is scheduled on January 14, 2022 at her home in Vihiga county.
