Three robbery suspects arrested in Nyali
Police have today arrested three robbery suspects after stealing from a man in Nyali, Mombasa county.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects, Ali Shariff Omar 21, Zulfi Zulfiqar 20, and Ali Baribi Kiyema 18, approached a man while on his way from Nyali beach and snatched 2 mobile phones from him.
“The victim was making his way from the calm waters of the long white sand Nyali beach, when a three-man gang on a motorcycle made a sudden stop, roughed him up and snatched his two mobile phones in seconds,” DCI stated.
The trio then hopped onto their getaway motorcycle but their fleeing attempts turned futile after nearby residents and police responded to screams from the victim.
The police caught up with the three and arrested them at the Mamba Village roundabout.
They were arrested and are currently detained at Nyali police station awaiting arraignment.
The getaway motorcycle of make Boxer KMFX 3628 is also detained at the station.
However, the stolen smartphones were not recovered as the suspects claimed they had thrown them away into a thicket during the chase.
