The High Court has nullified Embu Governor Martin Wambora’s election saying irregularities undermined the process.
While making the ruling on Thursday, Justice William Musyoka said the court cannot appear to condone electoral irregularities.
“Errors in compliance of the law undermine the process of elections. The results did not reflect the will of the people. I hereby nullify the election,” he declared.
“A court is not precluded from examining electoral materials merely because the issue was not pleaded,” he added.
The court burst into celebrations after the announcement.
On January 2018, the court ordered a recount of votes in the Embu election due to inflation, swapping, doctoring, and stealing.
