Suspect Jackton Odhiambo confesses to killing Edwin Chiloba over cheating
The prime suspect in the killing of fashion designer and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba has confessed to committing the heinous act shortly after he was arrested on Friday.
Jackton Odhiambo, a photographer confessed to the police that he was driven to commit the murder after revelations that Chiloba, who was his lover had another partner.
Odhiambo had been living with Chiloba as husband and wife for a period of one year in Eldoret.
Chiloba’s caretaker Alex Nyamwea said that Odhiambo called him using the deceased’s phone on January 4, 2023, informing him that he was vacating the house they lived in together.
The two had been seen together ushering in the new year at a popular club on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
Police established that the two left the club at around 3:00 am and headed to where they resided.
When they arrived at the house, the neighbours said they heard some commotion which subsided after a while.
The neighbours told the police that they spotted two people loading a metal box into a vehicle whose registration number was concealed and left.
Chiloba’s lifeless body was found stuffed in a metallic box along the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Eldoret.
According to eyewitnesses, a vehicle with a hidden registration number was spotted dropping the metallic box.
His body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for post-mortem to establish the cause of death.
