Ladies, don’t suffocate him; keep the cookie jar clean

A relationship can get boring quickly if both parties don’t spice it up. To avoid settling into a plateau, it would be advisable to try out new things that are agreeable to both parties so as to re-ignite the spark.
Some people enjoy kinky stuff like oral sex while others would rather just stick to the conventional stuff. And while most of the women we spoke to said they enjoyed oral sex, most of the men had reservations and felt certain conditions, like cleanliness had to be fulfilled before they went down on their women.
Oral sex should be fun. However, depending on who you ask, it can be repulsive or delightful. Granted, not everyone enjoys oral sex.
When he goes down on you, it’s the ultimate intimate kiss. “I have no problem going down on my woman,” says Ken, who has been dating his partner for the last 15 months.
How one smells down there may either encourage or discourage him.
Men, in general, prefer girls to be prepared for sex by being clean and fresh. But if they get down there and it smells unpleasant, it could be a deal-breaker.
Every woman’s vaginal scent is distinct and changes throughout her menstrual cycle.
A strong odour on the other hand could be an indication of an infection, particularly if she is sexually active. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like trichomoniasis can emit a distinct odour.
Bacterial vaginosis, which emits a “fishy” odour, is caused by a bacterial overgrowth in a woman’s vagina. If your cookie jar has a bad odour, make that trip to the gynaecologist. Sister, don’t suffocate the brother!
However, not all vaginal odours are a result of infection. Poor hygiene, tight-fitting clothing, or non-breathable fabric, for example, may trap sweat and bacteria, resulting in an unpleasant odour.
Speaking to The Informer, Kibera Human Development Project Medical Centre Director, Dr Stanley Simiyu states that a normal vagina has a mild, musky scent that is not unpleasant.
“This means that a slight smell is normal. Any foul (bad) or pungent smell, or a smell that is unusual, is a sign that things are out of balance, and that you should get yourself checked out,” he said.
He further explains that a vagina is like a self-cleaning “oven”, thus it cleanses itself and keeps itself healthy by maintaining the correct pH balance and cleaning itself with natural secretions.
“Your vagina contains a lot of ‘good’ bacteria. These bacteria maintain the ideal pH balance in your vagina, which is slightly acidic. The acidic pH makes it hard for ‘bad’ bacteria to infect your vagina,” Simiyu said.
The use of soaps, sprays, gels to wash inside your vagina, disrupts the bacterial balance. This can result in bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, and other irritations.
Washing your vagina can also affect your vagina’s ability to clean itself. So, if you want a clean vagina, leave it alone to clean itself!
