Independent alliance politicians on Saturday conducted their first rally in Mt Kenya region with a promise to voters that they are not spoiling for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during a rally at Ihururu stadium in Tetu the leaders led by Kiambu governor William Kabogo said contrary to assertion by some Jubilee nominees that they are complicating matters for Uhuru Ruto they are out to ensure that Wanjiku gets the right people in both houses and also improve voter turnout.
”Many of our competitors especially those in Jubilee claim that we are spoiling for the President when they come to you tell them that we are firmly behind Uhuru and we will be elected by a landslide since we know what electorate need,” he said.
Kabogo, who lost to Ferdinand Waititu in the primaries, said they are confident that they will clinch many seats through the ticket since their development track record speaks for itself.
”This time i as the chairman am confident that we will have most of the MPs elected through independent alliance but we must state that we will always be behind Uhuru and as such we cannot sabotage government agenda in the two houses” said Kabogo.
He said with the alliance success most of the politicians will no longer fight through parties but go directly to wanjiku for political success. His assertion was echoed by prominent Rift Valley politician Buldotich Buzeki who said during the primaries the country did not get the right candidates hence the alliance.
He said many of their pundits want to portray them as crying babies but their main agenda is to ensure right leaders are elected and at the same time ensure Uhuru and Ruto get their second term. ”Many of our competitors especially in Jubilee think that we have an agenda of 2022, however, I want to clarify that we are behind Uhuru re-election and come 2022 we will support Ruto to succeed Uhuru,” said Buzeki.
He said through such alliance tribalism will be eradicated during the polls paving way for Kenyans to elected their leaders based on their capability. Tetu MP James Ndungu, who was the host, expressed confidence that they will win many seats owing to bungled polls where the wrong candidates ended up with party ticket. ends.
