Assault course to boost Kenya Navy Marines Commandos training
The Commandant Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC) Colonel Eliud Keter officially yesterday launched a 500 meters long Kenya Navy Marines Commandos Assault Course at the Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe, Mombasa.
The Assault Course was constructed by United Kingdom (UK) government and will be instrumental in enhancing the ongoing KN Marines Commandos Training.
In his address, Colonel Keter appreciated the support of the UK government in enhancing the KN Special Operations Squadron (SOS) training capability.
“I appreciate the UK Government for their support in enhancing SOS training capability. The Assault Course is one of the important training tools and one of the three testing requirements. There will be no lowering of the training bar and the course will be tougher to suit the most resilient.” Colonel Keter noted.
He encouraged the trainees to endeavor to be the best by maintaining focus and mental strength, fighting spirit and sacrifice in order to attain the set standards.
The Commanding Officer UK 40 Commando Royal Marines Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Denning affirmed the importance of the Assault Course as a shared experience to achieve the standards of command.
“The event marks the sharing of command values and operational output between the United Kingdom and Kenyan Governments,” he said.
Later, Colonel Keter witnessed the first Assault Course training session by the KN Marines Commando trainees.
The Assault Course will contribute to the KNTC aspirations of becoming a Centre of Excellence by providing quality objective training for the KN Marines Commandos and physical training courses.
