AI, digitalisation to define Caterpillar’s next Century in Kenya
As companies continue to incorporate the evolving technology in their productions, heavy equipment dealer Mantrac has shared its plan over the same, as they mark a century of Caterpillar operations in the country.
Mantrac Managing Director Mohamed Ibrahim has revealed that technology-driven equipment will be rolled out from next year, as it seeks to strengthen their role in powering infrastructure and industrial growth.
“Starting next year, we are introducing more innovative products, which will entail Artificial Intelligence and more digitalization, as we mentioned today in the celebration. We have started receiving some of them and more upcoming from starting next year,” the MD stated.
Caterpillar contends its planned AI-driven machines could give it a competitive edge in a sector where cost and efficiency remain key concerns.
This is as he reaffirmed the company’s commitment to powering the next century of progress through CRS in the next five years, which will see over 1,000 pupils sponsored.
“Our mission goes beyond machines. From roads to power and agriculture, Caterpillar solutions have helped turn ambition into opportunity. We will continue to invest in communities, including sponsoring 1,000 pupils over the next five years,” he said.
Caterpillar Vice President for Distribution in Africa, Lavanya Ajesh, said the company remains committed to powering growth and uplifting communities.
She noted that through the Caterpillar Foundation, more than $24 million has been invested in African communities since 2015.
“While our products today look very different from 100 years ago, our mission remains the same: to drive progress through innovation, sustainability, and partnership,” she said.
The Caterpillar executives used the centennial event in Nairobi to underline the multinational’s footprint in Kenya’s economic transformation, pointing to roads, energy projects, agriculture, and even digital connectivity as sectors shaped by its machinery.
Kenya is currently driving multi-billion shilling infrastructure projects under Vision 2030, with growing demand for heavy equipment in road building, power generation, and urban development.
Mantrac Group represents Caterpillar in nine markets, including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, and Uganda, supported through export hubs in the United Kingdom and Dubai.
