Energy CS Wandayi appoints new chiefs at KETRACO, GDC and EPRA
Stephen Kipsang Busieney will head the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) as Managing Director and CEO, while Engineer Edward Mwirigi Kinyua has been appointed Director General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has approved the appointment of new chief executives to three key institutions in Kenya’s energy sector.
CPA Tom Odhiambo Imbo has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum announced the appointments today, Wednesday, September 30, 2026 saying they take effect immediately following recruitment processes conducted by the respective boards of directors.
The ministry said the recruitment exercises were conducted in accordance with applicable laws and human resource guidelines.
“The appointments, which are to take effect immediately, are a culmination of rigorous recruitment processes undertaken in accordance with the applicable laws and relevant Human Resource guidelines by the respective Boards of Directors of KETRACO, GDC and EPRA,” the ministry said.
The appointments were approved under the State Corporations Act, the Companies Act and the Energy Act.
Wandayi congratulated the three appointees and expressed confidence in their ability to provide leadership as the government implements its plans for the energy and petroleum sector.
