President Ruto leads leaders in mourning father of National Assembly Majority Leader Ichung’wah

President William Ruto has led leaders in condoling the passing away of the National Assembly’s Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah’s father, Isaac Ngugi.

Ngugi passed away on Thursday morning at the family’s Kikuyu home.

Ngugi was aged 105 and is reported to have died peacefully in his sleep. He had been admitted to Karen Hospital for a week before being discharged last week.

In his message to the family of the Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah, the Head of State has remembered the old man as an industrious businessman who touched the lives of many.

“He was an industrious and astute businessman and one of the brains who founded Kikuyu Town. Mzee touched many lives through his many transformative initiatives that supported the vulnerable. His legacy will live on,” the president has shared.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Kimani Ichung’wah,” he added.

On his part, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has celebrated the 100+ years of life of the old man, saying Celebrate his lasting impact will continue to be felt and his legacy cherished for generations to come.

“As we celebrate a life well lived, we pray that his lasting impact will continue to be felt and his legacy cherished for generations to come. May the fond memories of his century-long journey bring comfort to his family during this time of grief,” Wetang’ula stated in his condolence message to the Ichung’wah family.

Ministry of Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui has remembered the late as a joyful and dedicated community leader who deeply valued the people he served.

“We join family and friends in celebrating the life of Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa, father to National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa. He was a joyful and dedicated community leader who deeply valued the people he served. A true believer in organic farming, he lived long and witnessed many defining moments in history,” the CS has shared.

Mzee Ngugi passed away yesterday peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home, having lived a remarkable 105 years.
