A love-struck businessman is facing charges of issuing death threats after allegedly threatening to kill his lover if she makes real – threats of ending their relationship.
Stephen Omondi aged 35 years, is accused of threatening to kill 40 – years- old Lillian Awuor contrary to Section 223 (1) of the Penal Code after allegedly uttering words that prosecution believes are death threats during an altercation.
“On April 16, and on June 11, 2025 at Kayole junction area in Njiru Sub County within Nairobi, without lawful excuse uttered words “nitakuua” threatening to kill Lillian Awuor,” the charge reads.
Oriaro had threatened to end the relationship after finding him with different women at his house on several occasions.
The two met in 2022 and started the relationship before Omondi made an introductory visit to Awuor’s family.
They were at the time planning to get married but it became difficult to move in together because Awuor has grown children.
They continued with the relationship with Awuor only visiting Omondi at his house for intimacy but she also started finding different women in the house during each visit.
Omondi promised to change, stop cheating each time he was caught, until Awuor gave up on him and told him that she is quitting the relationship and the accused person allegedly started issuing her with death threats. Relatives made interventions to help them resolve their issues but without success.
During investigations into the matter after Awuor reported at Obama police station, Omondi had a disagreement with police insisting he should be referred to as Awuor’s husband while pledging to leave all the other women to remain with Awuor.
But she had already given up on him following numerous embarrassing and disappointing moments when she visited Omondi to find him with different women.
Omondi denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Rotich of Makadara law courts and pleaded for lenient bail terms through an advocate.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh20, 000. The matter will be mentioned on July 10 for a pretrial and setting of hearing dates.
