Tusker sip Ulinzi as Ingwe falter

League leaders Tusker FC have upped the tempo in chase of a 14th FKF-Premier league title today following a 1-0 slim lead against former Champions Ulinzi Stars in a lunch-time kickoff at Dandora Stadium.

The Brewers under Charles Okere are now on 36 points atop the league and have won three matches in succession as they build up momentum. Ulinzi gave a good account of against Tusker but only fell short with the first half ending goalless. Chrispine Erambo’s 55th minute rasping effort was enough to give the 2021/22 winners the important three points and set sail on a good path.

The soldiers under Danstun Nyaudo are 12th on the log prior to this match had won three games on the trot. Ulinzi are sitting on 22 points with a worrying goal difference of -4. The KDF team started the season on a low but has been quietly and surely getting their groove.

Meanwhile in another duel at the same venue this evening, AFC Leopards SC dropped two valuable points after visiting Murang’a Seal FC forced a 1-1 draw. Ingwe at fifth place has had an inconsistent run in their pastr five matches that has seen them pick only two wins in the process. The 12 times champions’, have 26 points in the bag presently while Seal are ninth on the log with 23 points.

Elsewhere at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County, strugglers side Posta Rangers under returning Coach Sammy Omollo inflicted FC Talanta with a 1-2 loss. This was only the mailmen’s fourth win in 18 matches and second in five games.

Brian Chonjo and Felix Oluoch’s goals were enough to cancel out Emmanuel Osoro’s strike. The win however does not end Posta’s misery as they still are 17th on the log and relegation threatened. As for Talanta who are 15th on the log,they are also not out of the woods as with this fourth loss in as many matches,sees them  on 17 points at end of Round 18.

Tomorrow defending Champions Gor Mahia FC are away to bogey team Kakamega Homeboyz FC  at Mumias Complex. The 21 Champions are still in belief they can get a good run and defend their title.K’Ogalo under Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno is on 27 points off 16 matches with three wins in the last five games. Homeboyz under the tutelage of Francis Baraza are currently 10th on the log with 22 points and have won two matches in a row.

Title contenders Kenya Police FC are away at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County against newcomers Mara Sugar FC.The law enforcers have had a solid run in recent times winning three matches consecutively and presently stand at 33 points with a match in hand. On paper,Police under Burundian tactician Evariste Ndayagirije look poised to pick yet another win but on the flip side could face a heavy task against stubborn Mara in a hostile venue.
